Margaret lives in a small market town high up in the Pennines. She first became actively involved in her local community when the town centre was threatened by an out of centre supermarket. The Planning Inspector refused planning permission and Margaret learnt a lot about retail from this experience and her connection with Manchester Met and the IPM. This continued through Holmfirth’s involvement in the High Street UK 2020 and Big Data for Small Users projects.
Her background is in human resource management, employment and organisational change and she has been a member, including Chair, of a number of public and third sector boards. She has a passion for networking, sharing information and finding ways of enabling others to become involved. Being invited to contribute to the work of the High Streets Task Force Board offers Margaret the chance to share her experience and a wonderful opportunity for more learning.
